Arts Night

We're invited to a friend's dinner party. Both the host and hostess are Michele's schoolmate. The hostess is an artist/painter, so there're some "art people" around in the party.

At certain point, someone had the idea to do an artistic performance. The idea came from one event that Michele cooperated with Mirca, the hostess, and another art critic some years ago. So they're thinking to put Michele together with a writer/poet for similar kind of thing. The original idea was like this: the poet would read his work, and Michele would improvise following his inspiration from the poem/paragraph. But at the end the performace "expanded" to poet reading, Michele/pianist playing, and Mirca/painter painting, together with some art criticism.

I just had the idea to film everything with my mobile phone. Everything is in Italian, but at least most of you can still enjoy the music. The recording is not excellent, but it's fair enough from a mobile.

Arezzo in Oct 2007

I was trying out some functions of the iPhoto and this is one of the results of the experiment of the day. It's totally bizarre!! As I was totally unaware that the program automatically added music to accompany the slide show, it ended up with this part of the slide show accompanied by American country music. Even though the music reflects my relaxed mood of the time, the "match" of the music and the photos is really weird...

A short film that I did with my digital camera. I made a mistake using the olympus memory card instead of the original fuji one. As a result, the maximum length of the video is only sixteen second!! What a shame... My video camera ran out of battery when I saw this group from Belgium (the first part of the video). They play excellent music. It's a pity that I only have some sixteen seconds of it as a souvenir of the visit. I put two short videos together some months ago when I started to experiment with iMovie.

Shadow Jamming

These are short footages that I made during our last trip to Bari. Michele went there for doing demos in a small musical instruments fair held by a local music shop. The fair was a two-day event placed in a four-star hotel in Bari. The videos were shot during the jam session that Michele and some musicians had some fun together after dinner. Since we didn't turn on the light and it's all dark, I called it "Shadow Jamming"!

At the beginning there're two keyboard players, one base player and the dummer.


Later one more keyboard player came to join the session.


At the end there's also a DJ having fun together.

Dublinia Throwing Game

This is to show how good Michele is at a throwing game! The footage was shot in Dublinia, a museum about life of Dublin during the medieval time. The visitor is supposed to hit the nose of the guy with a ball, and after many attempts Michele finally made it. He's normally pretty good at such things but for some wierd reasons he just couldn't get it right that morning. Is it the weather or something?

At the end of the music fair, people were starting to put things away. Before Jeff left for the hotel Michele has had some fun with Jeff. Just that the battery of the digital camera was almost gone and I was only allowed to make short films. So here you are!

I didn't bring my videocamera with me and was trying hard to record it with my digital camera. As a result, the sound quality isn't brilliant but I guess in that kind of noisy environment recording can't be too great in any case.
